HUGO PRATT – Corto Maltese, The Early Years

Available since August 2019

The Early Years, the 9th out of the 12 Corto Maltese volumes in English about the adventures of the romantic sailor created by Hugo Pratt in 1967 and published by IDW.

The origins of a character like Corto reflect his protagonist spirit in spite of himself: in this story, in fact, it flits like a ghost over Manchuria at the beginning of the 1900’s, right in the middle of a conflict that foreshadows the clashes between powers that will mark the first half of the twentieth century.

Barely seventeen, Corto finds himself at the side of two incredible characters, the writer Jack London and Rasputin, his future companion of adventures. At the time he is too young to comprehend the importance the two will have in his life, but as he himself admits at the outset, “Today I am able to tell you two or three things about them that I did not understand then.”
